AI coaching for trades and apprenticeship training, built from the standard.
Give Nova 5 a Red Seal occupational standard, a provincial apprenticeship curriculum, a college program outline or your own course. In about 20 minutes it builds a program's worth of practice mapped to each task and competency, with a coach beside every activity on the apprentice's phone, in English or French. Your instructors approve what it builds. Your assessors and the certification exam still decide.
- Mapped to Red Seal tasks and competencies
- Practice in English and French from one source
- Self-serve, monthly, no learner minimum
In plain terms
AI coaching for Canadian colleges, polytechnics, apprenticeship training providers and employers.
Nova 5 is an AI coaching platform for vocational education from SupaHuman, built for Australia and New Zealand and now taking early partners in Canada. You upload a Red Seal occupational standard, a provincial or territorial apprenticeship curriculum with its technical training levels, a college program outline with its learning outcomes, or an internal course. Nova 5 builds learning and practice activities for every task or outcome, maps each one back to it, and gives apprentices a coach beside every activity, in English or French. It supports in-school technical training and exam preparation. It is not a certification exam and does not make assessment decisions.

A worked example
From a Construction Electrician Red Seal standard to a week of practice.
Upload the occupational standard. Nova 5 reads the major work activities, the tasks and the competencies, decides what is worth practising, and builds it. Here is the shape of what comes back for one task on troubleshooting a circuit.
Troubleshoot electrical circuits and equipment
The standard asks the apprentice to interpret drawings and schematics, isolate and test, identify the fault, and work safely while doing it. Two things to know, one to do, one to be.
A fault finder, a scenario and a role play
A fault finder with a lighting circuit that trips intermittently and a schematic to read. A branching scenario on lockout, testing order and what to check first. A voice role play with a site supervisor who wants it fixed now. Each mapped back to the task and competencies it practises.
Reviews, approves, assigns
The instructor sees the activities, edits anything that does not match the code or the shop, approves them, and assigns them for the week. The apprentice does them on their phone between shifts, with a coach that explains what they missed and why.
Before the exam
The same engine builds exam-style practice by task weighting, in the question style the apprentice will face, with the coach explaining the reasoning behind each answer. The interprovincial exam, the provincial certification and the journeyperson decision stay exactly where they are: with the apprenticeship authority.
Where it fits
Technical training and exam preparation. Never the certification.
Practice between labs
Fault finders, scenarios and coached practice for each task, assigned by the instructor level by level. Progress and time on task are tracked, so you can see who practised what and evidence it.
Between block releases
Apprentices keep practising on their phone between technical training levels, so the next level starts from where they are rather than from the start.
The line we hold
Nova 5 builds practice and coaching. It does not grade, does not record competence and does not communicate results. The apprenticeship authority certifies; the employer and journeyperson sign off hours; the apprentice's record is theirs.
Nova 5 builds practice in English and French from one source program, so bilingual delivery does not mean building twice.
Questions Canadian providers ask
The things to know before we talk.
Yes. Upload the Red Seal occupational standard, the provincial curriculum or the level outline, and Nova 5 maps every activity it builds to a task, sub-task or competency. It works the same way with college program outcomes and internal courses. Try it with a real standard in the playground first.
No. Nova 5 builds practice and coaching, including exam-style preparation. The provincial or territorial apprenticeship authority certifies, the interprovincial exam stands, and your instructors and assessors decide. Nova 5 makes no competence or grading decision.
Yes. Practice is built from one source program in the learner's language, so an English-language standard can be practised in French and the reverse. Tell us in the form if bilingual delivery matters for your provision.
Under PIPEDA and the applicable provincial privacy laws, with you as the organisation responsible and SupaHuman as your service provider under our Data Processing Addendum. Data is hosted on Amazon Web Services in Sydney, Australia. Learner data is never used to train models for anyone else. Some public bodies have provincial residency expectations; tell us in the form and we will say honestly whether we can meet them yet.
The same as at home, converted: A$5 per learner a month (about C$4.50) with every practice type included, plus A$10 a month (about C$9) for each standard or level Nova 5 builds and keeps current. Billed monthly through the app in Australian dollars; your card provider converts. Early partners in Canada have no learner minimum.
In Australia and New Zealand, Nova 5 watches the national registers every month. In Canada there is no single register to watch, so when a Red Seal standard or provincial curriculum is revised you upload the new version and Nova 5 rebuilds the affected practice through the same approval flow. Nothing changes without an instructor approving it.
